What do we hope to accomplish?

Hey everybody. The meeting held Tuesday at the PUD was a success. Wasn't it? What do we want to accomplish by holding these monthly meetings? I'm starting this post in the hopes that we will post ideas and comments indicating what our individual vision for the group is.

Education. Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. When I learned about the founding principles of our country it changed my behavior. I vote differently. I pay attention to things that I never paid attention to before. I became an advocate of the principles by telling others about them. If we can just educate ourselves and then live accordingly I think we will have a huge impact. The only reason the government is out of control is because we, as a whole, are uneducated and unaware of principles of liberty. To borrow from Rahm Immanuel we should take advantage of the crisis and open peoples eyes to the real cause so they can oppose the wrong solutions. My opinion.

Finding others who think similar has been empowering. However, information without application is worthless. We need to start making rational, legal, purposeful, viable, attempts at policy change at the local level. In doing this our group will evolve slowly and appropriately. It's necessary to use the local level (i.e. city council matters)to build contacts, network, etc. Success in this process will enable us to become appropriately effective when our values matter most.

I know we are all busy, myself included. Unfortunately, we have allowed our country to be taken over from within while we kept saying someone else will do something-eventually.

What is going on in our local government, our state government and our ferderal gov? It would be great if someone would report on proposals before the different cities and someone report on what is before our state legislature. We can affect the greatest change locally but never loose sight of DC.

This comments is lengthy, but wanted to get out my thoughts.

Yes, I beleive we need an agenda at the meetings. I would like to start out with the Pledge of Allegiance, go over last meeting's results, and what we are planning to discuss this time. A time frame needs to be established also.

Yes, I agree that we need to break into smaller groups for in-home discussion and report back to the 912 Project Members.

I would like to see the 912 Project as a "go to place" to get information, meet up with people, gain information, etc. Every 6-8 weeks, we could then meet to go over what the other smaller groups have found out and to lend support if needed.

Local, State, and Federal issues already have watch dog groups, ie., AWB, NFIB,NRA, etc. If the 912 Project members, who are interested in a certain issue, lend their support to these groups, it would greaty help their cause. Many of us already contact our politicians about issues that we are interested in.

I would like to see a massive e-mail each month on the 12th to the local, state, and federal politicians. We could identify an issue and bombard all with e-mails.

Our book list - just that a list for people to look and choose which book suits them and their views. I will start putting together a list.

I would like to see T-Shirts and/or a flag made up. We cannot copy the 912 Project Logo from Glenn's Beck's site, as I checked. However, we can design our own. I would like to discuss this at the next meeting.

If we are looking for a speaker at a meeting, we could have 1-2 people, who read the same book, discuss the book they read, give our handouts, have discussion questions, etc. Bringing in other speakers would be great; just finding the one that doesn't have their own agenda may be a problem.

I really like Sarah's comment. I would agree with her on the role our meetings. I'm wondering if the in-home meetingw would be the more appropriate place to start discussing the book The 5000 Year Leap? Because I am very interested in getting started with this also

OK. So, if we're going to pursue a course of action shouldn't we first determine what the "disease" is? In other words, what's the REAL problem we're up against. I think we see the symptoms in higher taxes, decreased representation, corrupt laws ect..... but what's the real problem? The government is trying to govern the people instead of having the people govern it. Agree or disagree? Most politicians, not all, enjoy their status and power too much. Many of them are willing to do anything to maintain their status and power. So how do we fix that? My suggestion is to grow the group exponentially, not because we're "sick twisted freaks", although that may be a part of it, but because we are concerned citizens who are tired of not having our will put before the will of our elected officials. I believe that first and foremost we need to put the fear of God into any politician who proposes or advocates anything that is contrary to the constitution. In order to do that I think we need to be large in number and well educated. We can play, as Glenn says, whack-a-mole every time something pops up or we can target the disease that keeps breeding the moles! We've got to have people in office that actually have values and principles. I'm done venting.

I think it's a great idea to start forming local groups to discuss the principles in 5,000 Year Leap and the other books we will be discussing. If we start informing ourselves we can speak more intelligently when we make contact with our wonderful representatives who no longer represent us. I live in West Richland and would be happy to have some discussions at my house - we can use my backyard if we ever get some nice, dry weather.

We could use the support of the community on this issue. I got involved in politics to fight for marriage and this is what I have been able to get done. The parties need good honest people who will support what is good and decent in America. Too many people have been intimidated into silence.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On April 21, 2009, at the Franklin County Republican Central Committee meeting, the Committee overwhelmingly voted to censure 16th District Legislator, Maureen Walsh, for her sponsorship of the recently passed HB 1727.

HB 1727 inserts the following language in nearly 200 different places within its text:

“The terms spouse, marriage, marital, husband, wife, widow, widower, next of kin, and family shall be interpreted as applying equally to state registered domestic partnerships or individuals in state registered domestic partnerships as well as to marital relationships and married persons …Gender- specific terms such as husband and wife used in any statute, rule, or other law shall be construed to be gender neutral, and applicable to individuals in state registered domestic partnerships.”

Despite all her rhetoric otherwise, it has become indisputable to the Franklin County Republican Central Committee that Rep. Walsh is actively working to incrementally legalize gay marriages. As early as the 2006 legislative session, Rep. Walsh was working to expand the jurisdiction of the Human Rights Commission to include cases of discrimination because of a person’s sexual orientation with her co-sponsorship or HB 2661.

The Franklin County Republican Platform states:

“Families are the center of our culture and the basic unit of society. Traditional families must be protected and honored. Traditional marriage must remain the only acceptable form of legally protected marriage. Marriage is only between a man and a woman and should not be redefined.”

Representative Walsh has claimed that Republicans favor her agenda of stripping traditional marriage of its meaning and watering down the definition of the words “marriage” and “family”. Thus, we, The Franklin County Republican Central Committee, formally give the Franklin County community and voting constituents of District 16, NOTICE, that Representative Maureen Walsh does not represent the values of the Franklin County Republican Party.
